Call for Workshop Proposals

The IEEE Gaming, Entertainment, and Media (GEM) conference invites researchers, academics, and industry professionals to submit workshop proposals that delve into the dynamic intersection of technology, games, entertainment, media, and the arts. Workshops provide an interactive and immersive platform for in-depth exploration, collaboration, and knowledge exchange. They offer an opportunity to engage with fellow experts, enthusiasts, and emerging talents in the areas of gaming, entertainment, media, and the arts. We are seeking novel workshop proposals that address innovative research, technological advancements, creative practices, and emerging trends in these domains. Proposal Format

We invite proposals for half-day workshops. The submission should be sent as a single PDF file. Each proposal should include the following information:

  • Title and abstract: A concise and descriptive title, along with a brief abstract summarizing the workshop's objectives, scope, and relevance to the conference theme.

  • Organizers: Names, affiliations, and brief biographies of the workshop organizers, highlighting their expertise in the field.

  • A brief (1-page) CV of each (proposed) workshop chair, highlighting prior experience in organizing similar workshops.

  • A brief description of the topic of the workshop and its relevance to the conference.

  • A list of likely program committee members.

  • An estimate of the number of submissions that will be made, based on workshops held in previous years or any other information.

  • Any further information deemed relevant, e.g., previous workshops held on similar themes.

Important Dates

  • Workshop proposal submission deadline:     August 31, 2023

  • Notification of workshop acceptance: September 14, 2023

  • Registration Deadline: September 29, 2023

  • Site link and content deadline: November 12, 2023

Organizer Responsibilities

For the accepted workshops, the organizers will be responsible for the following:

  • Constituting the workshop program committee

  • Setting up a workshop website

  • Advertising the workshop

  • Managing the paper review and selection process

  • Ensuring that at least one author of each accepted paper attends to present the paper (this may require announcing regulations that stipulate this as a pre-requisite for the publication of the paper in the workshop proceedings)

  • Ensuring that the workshop delivers useful scholarly/research value via active discussion/debate.

  • Workshops will be held for half a day.

  • At least one author for each paper accepted to a workshop will need to register for the workshop program.
